Shopest
Founders & partnersIn short
Shopest is a multi-tenant e-commerce web application platform: many separate online stores run on one system, each with its own address, its own storefront and its own dashboard. Stole and I are the founders and partners.
The problem
Opening an online store usually means picking between a rigid template and building something from scratch. Shopest is built so that someone can open a store, list products and manage orders from one dashboard, without writing code.
My role
Founder and partner, with Stole. I built the entire frontend and designed the UI/UX. I also worked on the API, which is a shared backend.
What I built
- The public storefront: home, product list, product pages, cart and order placement, contact and about pages.
- The store dashboard: tables and forms for products (with variants and attributes), collections, orders, customers and users.
- A page editor for each store, and a ready-made starter home page so a new store never starts empty.
- The platform's own pages: company home, a directory of stores, and sign-in, including Google sign-in.
- Notifications inside the dashboard and as browser push messages.
- The design itself: layout, components and the dashboard patterns, kept in a written design log.
How it is built
Two separate repositories that talk only over HTTP.The API is Laravel 12 on PHP 8.4 with PostgreSQL 16 and token authentication. The frontend is React 19 with TypeScript, Vite and Material UI.Each store lives on its own subdomain; the frontend resolves the store from the address.Everything runs in Docker and deploys through GitLab CI.Cloudflare Turnstile protects forms from bots.
A hard decision, and what I left out
Customers belong to one store. The same person shopping at two stores is two separate customer records and is never merged, so one store can never see another store's customers. I also keep the scope tight: colour swatches were dropped rather than built before they were needed.
